Voices for Change is a self-advocacy group for people with acquired brain injury and experience of the criminal justice system.
We use our lived experience of having an acquired brain injury and contact with the criminal justice system to educate people, reduce stigma, and make things better for our peers. Voices For Change is a one-of-a-kind group filling an essential gap in lived-experience advocacy for people with ABI who have been criminalised in Australia.
About us
Among the general adult population, about 17% of males and 9% of females have had a head injury leading to a loss of consciousness, an indication of possible traumatic brain injury². The prevalence of acquired brain injury among people in prison is much higher, at 40–90%³
(according to the Australian institute of health and welfare)
All Been Inside: Podcast
This four-episode podcast, All Been Inside, tells four life stories: each details one person’s experience navigating the prison-legal system with an acquired brain injury.
