In 2025 Voices for Change created a podcast series - titled 'All Been Inside'. Each episode featured a members lived-experience story and an interview with an expert of their choice from the criminal-legal sector. The conversations highlight the systemic issues underlying the overrepresentation of Acquired Brain Injury in the Criminal-Legal system.

The podcast was a success, and the series was picked up by multiple media outlets, including a broadcast run on Locked In (4ZZZ – Meanjin/Brisbane) and 3CR (Naarm/Melbourne), followed by feature articles in the national About Time prison newspaper. Our stories and our advocacy reached people doing time in prisons across the country. That's when the prison letters began.

People began sharing their experiences of doing time, their head injuries, and the hope that Voices for Change might be able to help them in their desire to understand some of their life experiences. It was clear that our stories in the prison newspaper were creating opportunities for reflection within prison community. We heard stories of head trauma and a desire to understand whether this may have contributed to some of their life experiences. There came questions about screening and diagnosis, as well as stories of frustration at the prison medical system failing to meet health needs. We realised we needed to create a resource that could answer some of the big questions our community have while in prison and provide some hope for screening, diagnosis and support, both inside and upon release.

We are really proud of this resource and hope to reach as many people doing time as possible. If you know someone who could benefit from our pamphlet, grab a copy for yourself or a loved one by dropping us a message here.
