Thank-You all for celebrating with us

We would like to share some special moments from our recent celebrations at the Fitzroy Town Hall.

We were there to mark 4 years of our disability and justice self-advocacy.

Thank-you to all who came and to our special guests.

The grand Reading Room at the Fitzroy Town Hall.

Patrick McGee talked about why there are so many people in the criminal justice system who have an acquired brain injury.

Our Member, Michael, chatted with our volunteer, Sonya, when he gave his speech. He talked about his journey through the criminal justice system and how positive Voices for Change has been in his life.

Our member, Fran (r) and her special guest, Peta Ferguson. Peta was an acquired brain injury self-advocate for many years and inspired Fran to find her voice.

Our member, Jai, gave a powerful speech about his life before he found Voices for Change.

Cath McKinney and Michael Haralambous talked about the early days of Voices for Change.

Our member, Faye, imagined everyone was naked in the audience when she gave her speech. She hoped they weren’t nervous to be nude. Faye reminded everyone that not all suffering and disabilities can be seen.

Our member, Michael, with his good friend, Arthur Haralambous (r). They talked about their friendship and how they have supported each other over the years.

Bess Smallwood (l) from Fitzroy Legal Service spoke with our member, Jai, about their time together when Bess was Jai’s lawyer. Bess shared what it was like working with a client who has an acquired brain injury.

The acting-CEO of Fitzroy Legal Service, Hamish McLachlan, was our last guest. He brought everything together for everyone.

Thanks to everyone for such a great day and thanks for your ongoing support.
