Mike
Micheal Mayne is an original member of Voices for Change and the self-advocacy journey has changed his life. Micheal spent many years in–and-out of the prison system and was only screened for his Acquired Brain Injury in his late-40's.
Micheal is an engaging presenter and his lived experience story reaches a wide audience. He is particularly passionate about the voluntary-run Independent Third Person (ITP) program which supports people with cognitive disabilities in police custody. Michael advocates for this program to be professionalised and more widely-known about.
Micheal has spoken at numerous conferences Australia-wide and has shared his invaluable lived experience expertise in many different consultations within the health and justice sectors. Michael is passionate about improving overall conditions in the criminal justice system for his peers.
