17th Reintegration Puzzle
We were so happy to attend the 17th Reintegration Puzzle conference in Sydney recently. Our member, Michael, showed his lived experience film ‘Old and New Pentridge’ and networked with our friends working in the justice reform movement.
We spoke with our allies from Flat Out, Stacey and Nina, as well as Emily and Doddy from the Centre for Innovative Justice (RMIT) (above).
We heard powerful lived experience stories from our disability-justice allies Taylor Budin, Rocket Bretherton and good friend, Patrick McGee (below).
By the way, have you heard about the women’s prison podcast Rocket was in? Have a listen: birdseyeviewpodcast.net
The conference was inspiring and it was important to connect with all those people working around the country who are raising awareness of cruel and inhuman treatment of people with disabilities in prison.
We are looking forward to connecting with Tina McPhee (below) and others from the Justice Reform Initiative going forward. They have some powerful t-shirts available with the hashtag #jailingisfailing

Sydney City was awesome, just like the conference. It was Michael’s first time to Sydney and we did a ferry trip to Manly. Thanks to the Department of Social Services for granting us permission to attend the conference. It was a really important way for Voices for Change to build connections and power in our disability-justice movement.
