No Air In Prison rally makes the ABC News

We spoke at the No Air In Prison rally this week with our friends from across the justice advocacy community.

We believe that if the Victorian government takes away people’s right to just 1 hour of fresh air a day, that will have major impacts on people’s mental health and their sense of hope for the future.

We support the First People’s Assembly submission to the government calling for this bill to be scrapped.

If made law, the bill would suspend rights enshrined in the Victorian Charter of Human Rights. It would also disregard international standards set for prisoners, rules developed by Nelson Mandela.

We will continue to speak out against this wrong move by the government and we hope to see your support.
