Reintegration Puzzle 2025: Culturally Valid Assessments workshop with Jai Haines and Taylor Budin

Voices for Change member, Jai Haines, co-hosts a workshop on 'Culturally Valid Assessments for people with FASD'. Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder is a specific type of Acquired Brain Injury caused by prenatal alcohol exposure.

Jai hosts this important workshop with disability-justice peer educator, Taylor Budin. Taylor works for the NSW Intellectual Disability Rights Service. Jai is attending the 2025 Reintegration Puzzle conference in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) as a lived experience peer of incarceration and disability.

The Reintegration Puzzle brings together people from all over the country working to improve the justice system. Together, Jai and Taylor raise a number of key issues that speak to the importance of culturally valid assessments and supports for First Nations people with FASD.

They are doing great work. Voices for Change acknowledges the Arrernte people of Mparntwe who have lived on this country for at least the last 30,000 years. It is a beautiful country and we pay our respects to them today. Thank-you for supporting Voices for Change.
