Making connections at Tarrengower

Last week we were really lucky to visit Tarrengower Prison where we delivered our training to some of our peers currently doing time.

Our training about Acquired Brain Injury and the Criminal Justice System helps us make important connections with people currently in prison.

People are able to relate to our lived experiences and the journeys we have been on. We have gone from having contact with the criminal justice system to being self-advocates.

Our training and the way we speak to people makes it safe for them to open up about their own experiences and their struggles.

Our information makes people feel less alone. It makes them think twice about having a disability. It makes them feel better about it.

We have wanted to make connections with our community in prison for a long time. We hope to make some more coming up.
